If you own a business or run any type of organization, you know the value of screen printing items. T-shirts are invaluable for charity events. They also make excellent swag for your employees. Knowing how these products are made and the different tools involved, also help you in making the best choice.
This type of printing involves a number of tools and equipment to make sure the image comes out the way you want it. Once you've come up with the artwork you want to use, print design professionals in Tulsa, OK, use the following steps and tools to create your screen-printed designs.
The first step in screen printing is to create film positives. The design is split into different layers for each color. All of the layers are then converted to black images on a clear film. These are used to make a stencil for each color layer.
Once all the film positives of each required color are created, then each positive is placed on a mesh screen that is then covered with light-sensitive ink. By exposing it to UV light, a stencil is created.
A squeegee has a flat rubber blade that is used to smooth out the ink so that it's spread consistently onto the fabric.
Each layer of ink in the screen printing must be dried before the next layer is applied. A flash cure is used to "cure" or set the ink. It keeps the colors from bleeding together.
Depending on the type of ink used, the entire design will need to be heated to a certain temperature so that the ink sets and the design is cured.
